DRIVE !

I had planned on leaving Platteville, Wisconsin at 2:00am on Sunday, July 5. I played alarm clock tag in my sleep and didn't leave until 2:30am.

Drove through Iowa in the dark. Nothing against Iowa, but there isn't much to see anyway besides corn. Watched the sun come up while I was in southern Minnisota.

Minnisota is another corn heavy area. Not much got my attention long enough to actaully take a picture besides the sunrise.

When I hit Western South Dakota I traveled through Badlands. Awesome. I hiked around quite a few areas.

Wyoming had some serious rain storms for me to contend with, and there were several.

I camped at the first campsite I could find in Montana, Tongue River Reservoir. Got there just before sunset, got my tent set up, ate some bananas and eventually fell asleep. I put in 17+ hours of driving and covered 1100 miles.

The weather got a bit hairy in Montana. I made it to Missoula and found a great coffee shop "Zootown Brew" at 121 West Broadway. Checked the weather and made a decision to drive through to Moscow Idaho. I headed down Hwy 12, past Lolo and along the Lochsa river. The most beautiful country imaginable. I plan on heading back that way on Thursday on my way to Glacier.

It was so good to see you after more than a year. I hope the weather warms up for your trip to Glacier. Enjoy!

See you again in August. Huckleberries will be ripe enough to pick, so bring a big bucket to put them in. Yummmm!

Have fun!!!
